How To Start Your Own Business With Or Without A Big Idea

You’re invited to join the Washington, D.C., Women@Darden group for an interactive discussion led by Mary Ellen Hickman (MBA ’99) on starting your own business. We will explore how to:

• Sell your professional services — or hobby — as a consultant, outsourced function or freelancer
• Pitch in to help a favorite nonprofit, family business or friend — and get paid for it
• Buy into or acquire another small business or franchise

We will then discuss the easiest ways to start, the trick to getting the confidence to take the leap, and how to begin to build and leverage your network to help make your business a success. You will hear examples of how other Darden women, including three from the Class of 1999, started and grew successful businesses.
